Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan konsep kesia-siaan (hevel) dalam Kitab Pengkhotbah 1:2 dengan konsep nihilisme dalam pemikiran Friedrich Nietzsche serta menganalisis implikasinya terhadap moralitas hidup Kristen. Dalam Pengkhotbah, hevel menggambarkan kefanaan dan ketidakberartian hidup manusia tanpa Allah, sedangkan nihilisme Nietzsche menolak keberadaan makna objektif dan menegaskan perlunya manusia menciptakan nilai mereka sendiri setelah “kematian Tuhan”. Melalui pendekatan teologis dan filosofis, penelitian ini menemukan adanya perbedaan mendasar dalam penentuan makna dalam keabsurditasan kehidupan. Pengkhotbah mengarahkan manusia untuk menemukan makna melalui relasi yang benar dengan Allah dan ketaatan pada perintah-Nya, sedangkan Nietzsche menawarkan Übermensch sebagai manusia yang menciptakan moralitas baru secara otonom. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep kesia-siaan dalam Pengkhotbah justru meneguhkan iman Kristen dengan mengingatkan bahwa hidup yang sejati hanya dapat ditemukan dalam takut akan Tuhan. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya gereja membimbing jemaat agar memiliki pandangan hidup yang berakar pada nilai-nilai kekal dan tidak terjebak dalam pandangan sekuler yang meniadakan makna hidup.
